Rocky Snyda, one of Brooklyn’s favorite underground, alternative Hip-Hop princesses, is back with Rhymes With Orange. The two-track project was released at midnight on August 17. In this round, Snyda enlists the artist/producer, Ocean Cat, and fellow rapper, Qu’ality.
The EP is comprised of two songs, both of which Snyda says have been in the works for some time. “No Face,” she says, was conceived roughly 2-3 years ago and has already been performed live. “Thanks to divine timing and meeting Ocean Cat, the record was able to finally see the light of day,” Snyda remarked. The projects other record, “How To Succeed In Rap Without Really Trying,” is the fresher of the pair, and features Harlem-artist Qu’ality. “It actually had many dope feature options. Qu’ality ended up being the perfect fit.”

Rhymes With Orange is by New Yorkers, for New Yorkers. But the Flatbush native isn’t trying to fit the mold with her new release. “We’re in a new era where we think only drill can come out of NYC. That’s fine I like the genre a lot! But I’d like to think there’s more hip-hop sub genres that can exist and be represented by NYC.”
Synda flexed her passion for marketing as well with the roll-out of Rhymes With Orange. The project was first anounced on August 11 via an Instagram post featuring a stop-motion, claymation Snyda. She followed up with a contest to see who could guess the feature on her latest record, who we now know is the multi-talented, Qu’ality. The winner of that contest received a “Supernova” graphic tee, commemorating her previous single.
