South Florida-based rapper/singer-songwriter Element Jetson “DARKSIDE BLUE.” is a cathartic, lo-fi fusion of neo soul and hip-hop, packed with heart wrenched lyricism and stacked vocals. The qualms of life escape us none, no matter the walk of life we come from as even a respected PHD graduate empties his soul on wax about lost love, family expectations, and where he stands in the middle of it all. “I left my lover in the middle of being in love/’cause we had a problem much bigger than either of us/That’s the silent trauma that’s causing the peak of the slump/My hearts been on fire, I got some real demons to snug,” Element raps on the second part of ‘session 4 (REALITY REFUSER/LET IT GO).’ Every Song on “DARKSIDE BLUE.” is prefaced by a song titled session and a numerical value depending on where you are in the track list which makes the subject matter and lo-fi sonics make this project so much more compelling. In an age where the average adult is dealing with the price of living, societal pressures and the tangible space the interface of social media has wedged between us, “DARKSIDE BLUE.” provides a hiding place decorated with soulful production for you to get lost in.
