Miami-based alternative band Donzii injects you with something familiar from the future on their EP “Gladugly.” A three track collage of syncopated drum beats, soaring vocals and grooves that could dance away the blues. As fun, punk and filled with personality this offering is, the lyrics convey this cryptid introspection that resonates with those who see beyond the veil. “Something in the world aint right/I’m going towards the orange light/I’m ripping apart the sky/looking for what’s inside,” they wearily vocalize on “Luxury Condo Theme.” On “Sand” they sing “no one wants to live forever/I for one prefer to die right now.” The poetry paired with the soundscapes feel like putting on the most expensive pair of nihilist tinted sunglasses driving with the windows down to wherever the wind takes you. Is it post punk? Funky? An apple that fell from a tree named the cure? I can’t particularly say, but I do know it bangs, its provocative and well worth the listen.
