Looking Back on Latashá’s ‘GoGo Wyne’

Last year, highly acclaimed LA-based creative force Latashá shared with us the new offering that was and still is ‘GoGo Wyne.’

It served as the follow up to her Latashá’s ‘Who I Am’ – which formed part of the soundtrack for Netflix’s hit series Self Made starring Octavia Spencer and Tiffany Haddish. ‘GoGo Wyne’ exudes boss energy and surfaces as an affirmation of fearless empowerment. Seamlessly blending irresistible club sounds with her signature smooth rap flow, the track further proves Latashá’s unassailable energy and creative ambitions.

Produced by LyteHaus Media, the creative house co-founded by Latashá with her partner and two best friends, the lively, charismatic “GoGo Wyne” visuals will be sure to continue the intrigue and attention around this young trailblazer.

Speaking about ‘GoGo Wyne,’ Latashá explained: “Being in these times, it’s been so challenging to create as a Black artist in America. So much has been taken away from Black artists, and I’m tired of it. I needed the visual to say something deeper even with the limitations of the pandemic. Inspired by old school dancehall records I grew up on, ‘GoGo Wyne’ is not just my affirmation song but it’s the manifestation of my people’s success, despite what others might think of our worth. It’s a reminder of our magic even when they try to kill us. So, I created ‘GoGo Wyne’ as an anthem for Black women, so we can be in all of our joy, collecting all of our checks. No more games. It’s time.”

‘GoGo Wyne’ also marked the launch of Latashá’s esoteric club LYTEWRK, an online platform for fans to connect with the artist on a spiritual level and reach her for personalized affirmations and spells via the “833-LYTEWRK” phone number in the music video.

Coming up from Brooklyn, Latashá’s genre-bending music has achieved acclaim from major tastemakers including XXL, THE FADER, FACT, EARMILK, OKAYPLAYER, THE SOURCE, REMEZCLA, DJ BOOTH, AFROPUNK, BROOKLYN VEGAN and Ebro Darden thanks to her music’s deep energy, inspiration and good vibrations.

The dynamic entertainer has built her core following in the NYC scene through incredible creative performances, opening for some of the greats like Big Sean, Princess Nokia, Ghostface Killah and Q-Tip as well as taking the stage at several festivals including SXSW, A3C, Afro-Latino Fest and Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest to name a few.
With career-defining new music helmed by the incomparable DJ/fashion icon Honey Dijon and pioneering Australian act PNAU still to come, Latashá is at the top of her game, showing no signs of slowing down – don’t take your eyes off of her.
