You have definitely heard the phrase “You know the vibes,” somewhere. When it comes to Orlando-based artist SVRITE, it is surely true. With a sound reminiscent of the late Jahseh Onfroy, better known as XXXtentacion, it’s safe to say that yes, we do know the vibes. SVRITE’s latest single, “Vibe,” sounds like it is straight out of the deceased rapper’s discography, exactly what SVRITE had in mind.
The just-under two minutes track is truly a bop. The lyrics are simple: “Vibe. It’s a vibe, it’s a fucking vibe. Moving side to side, moving side to side.” What he says is exactly what you will be doing when this comes on at a function. A calm flute instrumental amped with heavy bass creates the perfect atmosphere for, do we even have to say, “vibing” out. Other lyrics in the song include, “Fucking that hoe on the mat, bending her over, I’m breaking her back. Shoutout my slatt, free all my niggas locked up in the jack.” SVRITE’s flow on this track is expeditious, evocative of X. If X were still with us, I’m sure his fans and SVRITE’s fans alike would be begging him to hop on the remix.
“Vibe” is SVRITE’s first release of the new decade. A 17-year-old already doing numbers on all streaming services, he has a lot to look forward to. As he continues to mature, his music will only evolve in a way that we started to see from the deceased fellow Floridian rapper. We suggest you head to SVRITE’s Spotify to check out “Vibe,” and more of his music from the past year.
