Columbus hip-hop artist Moe June releases his much-anticipated single for his last single of 2021 called ‘Maniac’ on all major streaming platforms Thursday, October 28. Born Maurice Reed Jr., the energetic lyricist uses this track to scare his competition out of the game while marking his hard-fought territory.
“The song and [upcoming] video represents internal rage, frustration, mental breakdowns and a fury of explosions,” June says about his new song and the accompanying macabre tinged visual. “‘Maniac’ comes from being fed up with circumstances that do not align with the creator and leader I am. Maniac is about putting external doubters and jealousy as well as internal negativity in their place,” the Columbus rapper explains.
Moe June is an Ohio hip hop artist whose passion for music started as a young kid. June found the inspiration he needed to pursue his dream with hip hop classics such as Tupac’s acclaimed album, “All Eyes on Me.” Specifically, the lyricist states: “I fell in love with how an artist would deliver their performance/Lyrics in general but especially metaphors and powerful messages would catch my interest/Music is life to me.”
Moe June has appeared on the The OSU Lantern’s Columbus’ Own series since spring 2021. In addition to that, Moe June has built a strong live performance reputation throughout Columbus, Ohio. Most recently, he opened for the Columbus date of the Ultraviolet Pirates Tour, headlined by American rapper Riff Raff. While Moe June may be new relative to the industry’s standards, his energetic performance and unbridled charisma shows that he is here to stay.
