Trinidadian artist and author John Orpheus released his latest music video for ‘IG‘ on July 9. The “funky, saucy, Caribbean pop” single is a feel good track that ought to make any listener feel like they can rule the world, or maybe just social media. “It’s a love letter about feeling your authentic self and being radically you,” Orpheus explains. “It’s time to begin again with no excuses and no shortcuts.”
Patrick Hodgson is the director for Orpheus’ latest msuic video. Though the name suggests giveing in to the vanity of social media, that isn’t quite the message Orpheus wants to send. “The title is a call out to the attention-seeking game of social media, but the song itself is about giving yourself all the love you deserve without asking permission,” the artist explains.
‘IG’ comes from his upcoming project, “SAGA KING”, dropping July 30. It works in conjunction with his memoir, SAGA BOY. “SAGA BOY is the journey of the boy I used to be while SAGA KING is the celebration of the man I’ve become,” Orpheus explains. “A dance party that’s confident in its skin, you’ll hear a seamless voice of afrobeat, hip hop, dancehall, soca, dance, pop and rock.
