If you love hearing artists talk about their hustle and grind, then Satyourday Radio is the podcast for you. The hosts, A-Bar and NKNX, reside in New Jersey but record episodes all over the world including New York City and Japan. Over the past three years, they’ve grown a strong fan base and successfully landed guest appearances from Sean Paul and Trinidad James.
Satyourday Radio isn’t just a couple of friends chopping it up with their favorite artists, although that can be entertaining too. A-Bar and NKNX feature some of the most talented individuals in underground music. They’ve interviewed electronic artists and curators, such as Surf BK, UNIIQU3, Nadus, and Vivian Host. Aside from the usual interviews and artist spotlights, you can also expect specially curated DJ mixes from NKNX and Satyourday Radio’s deejay, Délé.
Some really great stories are told on Satyourday Radio and it’s so interesting to hear how artists’ got to where they are now. One of my favorite episodes, which was released last month, is an interview with artist-producer Ase Manual. The episode opens with Ase giving a shout out to the podcast and then fades into one of his latest releases, “Senzu.” On the show, Ase shares his early musical beginnings and speaks on his time running independent record label, Like That, with close friend and deejay, Marvelito. The episode overall was enjoyable to listen to, especially the small bit about afrofuturism and Ase’s run-in with The Twilight Tone.
