Aura’s “Spring”

You’d be doing yourself a disservice by failing to listen to her newest sensual and emotional track.

March brought two different Springs. We all know the season and can feel the weather getting better as the weeks progress, but did you hear about the second Spring? It’s the latest single from the Brooklyn-based R&B artist, Aura. You’d be doing yourself a disservice by failing to listen to her newest sensual and emotional track. Aura’s “Spring” was released on March 31, and can easily be found on Spotify.

A simple beat, laced with soft hi hats and keys, is the perfect compliment to Aura’s soft and sweet voice. And her message is as cute as the song sounds. “Sun-showers, warmer weather / Sugar honey iced tea / Love letters, bird feathers / Swimming all around me,” Aura recites, as she paints her own iteration of the season. Considering the circumstances the world is in, I am more than positive many are fantasizing exactly what she’s emulating. That’s just more of a reason to appreciate the song.

Citing how things are now, “Spring” is a beacon of hope: a light at the end of this long, winding tunnel. There are some things that will never be normal again. However, Spring, and all the lovely things we attribute to it, should remain. “So let me hoola-hoop under the cherry blossoms / Let me run around in fields of dandelions,” Aura sings. The rest of the world will be right behind her.

“Spring” is the kind of song you should enjoy in the actual elements of Spring-time. But you can draw a nice bath, light some incense, and let Aura do the rest. Hell, make a day of it and go through her entire discography on Spotify. You can listen to “Spring” below, as you transition out of your seasonal depression and into the season of rejuvenation.
